Hero or Villain (Open)

The wastelands....

Two handpicked Freedom Guards stood in front of Jak, their masks covering their overwhelming emotion as Veger pushed Jak out of the Hellcat.. Jak stood in handcuffs.


A snobby and arrogant Count Veger read out loud."By order of the  GRAND COUNCIL OF HAVEN CITY... You are hereby BANISHED TO THE WASTELAND.... for Life... for acts and crimes against the people"

The new Governess Ashelin growled protesting the decision "This is a DEATH SENTENCE, Veger... There must be another way.."


Veger sneered "Your protests are overruled, This DARK ECO FREAK is Dangerous, now drop the cargo."


Pecker growled "This is a outrage, I'm outraged beyond words.. Not everybody agrees with this ridiculous degree.. "


Daxter crossed his arms and yelled, the fear in his eyes "YEAH, WE WANT A RECOUNT.."


Veger growled back "So you wish to join him?"


Pecker backed out saying "We are not that outraged, farewell Jak, stay out of the sun, and get some water if you can find it."


Daxter hurt "JAK?"


Jak shook his head "Go back to the city Dax."


Just as Ashelin tried to release Jak's handcuffs, trouble brewed.


Veger growled "This is Jak's fault, he's bringing this in.."

Ashelin ran to Jak along with Daxter, and Jak passed out.


Veger laughed as Ashelin growled and punched him hard. "You asshole.."


Daxter held Jak worried "JAK?! JAK!"

Then... darkness..


Jak fell into the darkness, seeing his own shadow staring back at him "Jak... it's me your shadow... wake up.. i need you.. "


There was a threatening glow from his shadow as Jak suddenly fell down on the dusty grounds of Twilight Town with handcuffs on his hands..


Daxter looked worried "Jak... JAK! Wake up!"

Yusuke woke up to a rather loud alarm clock as he slammed his fist onto it for more sleep the clock broke from too much abuse, hurting his hand in the process. Now fully awake and out of bed Yusuke was all dressed and ready to go when he saw from out his window a small crowd gathered around somebody. "Tssh another one, Jeez the people of this town really don't get it do they? Guess i'll have to be Mr. Nice Guy again and help the poor sap out." 

Aside from having his own apartment in the town Yusuke was also part time detective for them which wasn't as fancy as Spirit Detective but still paid well. 

"Alright all of you go back to whatever shit you were just doing your local 'Detective' will take care of this!" 

The crowd looked at Yusuke and of course doubted him but knowing since he is rather young he flashed his badge which of course scared most of them off as they didn't want to get involved with police matters. 

"Ugh I hate having to use my title here just to help some random newcomer but hey lucky it was me that found you and not the local authorities considering the way you look and your handcuffs they would think of you as an escaped criminal. Good thing i'm just here to help you out."

Daxter's head hurt, it was just one thing after another. First Jak was blamed for a series of "incidents" in their world and now Ashelin couldn't even save them. Veger seemed like such a asshole. Daxter was glad Ashelin had given Veger a piece of her mind.

Now Daxter held a tracker in his hand and stepped protectively in front of Jak, however seeing this guy was three times as tall as the ottsel. "Listen pal... we've had a long day, my buddy here was sent to die in a desert by some stuffy man in a overcoat named Count Vegetable i think it was?"

Jak's head hurt as well as his eyes opened and he struggled in the handcuffs from his world. "You're here to help me? More like everyone's out to punish me more likely.

Jak's eyes moved from Daxter to the stranger. "Ugh... i need water.."

Daxter pleaded "Please, stranger.. get my friend and me here some water, we...lost our world somehow..."

Yeah a talking weasel was totally new to Yusuke but after everything he had been through it barely fazed him. 

"Yes i'm here to help." Seeing the man in trouble Yusuke grew worried. 

Yusuke took a quick look around and noticed no one in sight, not wanting to scare anyone with his speed and strength.

"Okay hold on tight!" 

Yusuke picked up Jak and Daxter effortlessly and sped as fast as a jet plane toward his apartment. 
Now at his apartment in under a minute Yusuke put Jak on the coach and Yusuke was first to get him a tall glass of water from his sink and gave it to Jak. 

"Hopefully you two didn't get too dizzy from my little trip here. Now drink up it's water and there's plenty more on tap if you need it." 

Yusuke got out some snacks since he was having guests over. 

"Here I bet you two are hungry, it's not much since i didn't expect guests but I'll order something real quick, Have you ever had pizza where you come from?" 

Yusuke laid out a few small sandwiches with meat and cheese for his snacks and set them out on a nearby table. 

"Let me take a look at those cuffs now that we aren't in any life or death situations anymore. Also sorry for the scare but i didn't want to risk it with your friend in trouble."

As Jak remembered he was in cuffs, he sighed "Thanks, buddy..."

As the stranger trusted him enough to take him toward his house, he took a deep breath as in as quick as a minute, Jak was set on the guy's couch and Daxter hopped up on Jak's body real quick to give the eco warrior a cold drink of water.

"I can't eat without my hands being released from these cuffs"

Daxter whined about the trip "How long is this trip going to take anyway buddy? My feet are burned and my tail could be on fire.."

Daxter blinked and pushed a short chair in the man's apartment to get himself and Jak some more water. Water felt good more than anything right now.

"Thanks buddy, We owe ya one"

Jak looked at the cuffs and then to the food, Daxter would have to hand feed the man like a baby until the stranger could handpick the eco cuffs.

The food there looked amazing. When Jak and Daxter was asked about weird things called pizza and cheese and crackers, they just stared at each other and laughed for a second, and then looked blankly at the stranger.

"No.. We've never had this pizza...Besides if we did, it wasn't good enough for us lowly "prisoners" due to the great Baron himself.


Daxter was placing some cheese and crackers into Jak's mouth and his mouth and both seemed to enjoy it. "Man, this is good food.. Ermmmmrm.." 

The lock itself was very intricate and tough to crack on its own though Yusuke had always brought a few bobbypins for just such an occasion. 
As Yusuke picked the lock he managed to get through some of the lock's defenses which in turn loosened up on Jak's wrists. 
Every wrong turn tightened them back up but after learning the pattern of the locks Yusuke cracked the code.

"Almost got it... There!" The last lock was broken and the cuffs literally fell off Jak's wrists. 

"And my Mom always told me that I shouldn't learn things like this!" Yusuke said laughing.

So they have heard of pizza but barely it must have been a rich people food or something. 
Yusuke sat down on another chair and had a menu in front of him and gave one to the two. 

"Here it's a menu for the pizza place down the street. Don't worry about the price of what you want, I'm buying anyways."

The menu of course had more than just pizza such as wings, breadsticks, salad and even dessert.

"So what happened exactly? You two seem really out of it right now."

Yusuke slapped his head as he remembered something. 

"I guess introductions would probably be better first, my name is Yusuke." 

As soon as Jak felt the cuffs falling off himself, he rubbed his wrists. "Alright, Yusuke, I'm.... Jak and this is my friend Daxter, his nickname is "Orange Lightning" though. Jak got a small chuckle out of it.

Daxter grabbed the guide and his eyes lit up like a child's birthday. "Jak... look at all this weird food we've never tried before, How about some of these "wings" and some breadsticks and pop" 

Jak looked at Yusuke "We.. don't have to pay for this?"

So Jak wrote down everything they wanted and handed the menu to Yusuke.

Jak explained what happened to both of them.

"I got arrested by Count Veger and the Grand Council of Haven City after we saved the people of all things, but i still get blamed for my dark side.. Jak kind of avoided talking about his dark side.. My friend and ally who was the Governess of Haven City and her date Commander Torn tried to stop me from being banished, but no luck. Just before i passed out, I saw Ashelin fighting back against Count Veger, and Daxter held the tracker she gave me tight. 

Then we arrived here.

Jak looked down still a bit hurt "We lost our world and it's my fault...That means everyone i loved is gone.. Why did you save us, did you want something?"

So they lost their world huh at least they weren't the first. 
Looking back to the menu and what they ordered he cringed a bit seeing a lot of food on it.

"Yeah sure it's my treat. Just don't order this much next time okay?"

A dark side? Was he a little like Yusuke and was part demon? Nah he must have had some other thing that he didn't want to talk about which was fine for Yusuke.

"It's not entirely your fault Jak, this dark side of yours might have lured something else entirely to your world. I'm only guessing at this point but their are creatures called the heartless that thrive on darkness and are born from it so my guess is your dark side might have lured them to your world and swallowed it up. They also try to take people's souls in a sense called 'Hearts' here and become one of the fold. They swallowed your world's heart and now it's gone." 

Yusuke was asked his motive for saving the two then firmly replied.

"Well I could have left you to die or be jailed by the authorities for no reason but when i saw you two without any sort of help I just did the natural thing to do and helped out. But if you want another reason than just that then i can say i have not had any good sparring partners to train with. You looked tough enough to handle pretty much anything that was thrown your way, So yeah if i have a motive that's what it is." 

As the food order was placed they had about 20 minutes of wait time until the food arrived. 

Jak sat up once he was better, but he could hear strange growling in his stomach. "I haven't eaten food since i was sent to freaking prison no thanks to the Baron."

Daxter chuckled "You mean good food... I could use some real food, not the crap Haven City feeds us."

Jak looked down rather sad "I know I heard Veger point at me as soon as the darkness overcame my world. I still feel it was my fault. I lost Ashelin, Torn, Sig, Keira, Tess and everyone else i cared about there." "So heartless destroyed my world forever? Jak forced back hidden tears that he'd never used since after he'd been banished for the allies he lost in his world gone forever. 

Dax...?

Come here..

Huh, Jak? What's up? 

It's gone, all of it. Our whole world. Don't you... miss anyone?

Daxter felt like his heart was crushed senseless and then stepped on, but then he imagined how it felt to be Jak who carried the weight of the world on his shoulders. 

Daxter forced a smile and wiped the tears off of Jak's face "Come'n buddy, we are heroes this happens all the time.. Doesn't it? Please Jak... put a smile on your face.."

Daxter explained and sighed "Thanks again for not letting us die, it's the least you could of done for us.."

Yusuke looked at his watch and noticed that the food should be almost here by now. 

"Don't worry about it guys I originally thought it was hopeless too that is until i was told of a group of people that can restore those lost worlds." 

Suddenly a knock came to Yusuke's door of which Yusuke answered to see a man carrying a load of boxed food. 

"Here you go sir, 1500 munny!" 

The food was given to Yusuke of which he placed the boxes onto the dinner table. 

"Everyone eat up food's here!" 

As Yusuke opened the boxes to reveal the good looking food Yusuke continued what he was saying about that group of people. 

"So yeah there is a group of people hard at work to restore those lost worlds called the 'Keybladers' if not for a better name i would have chosen something like 'Peace Keepers'. Either way they use sword like weapons shaped like keys and it's their job to prevent the destruction of worlds and restore the ones that are lost. When you see the stars in the sky out here everyone of them is a different world, So i can imagine how hard there job is. So don't worry about it guys everything will be okay."

Yusuke took a bite of his order and a sip of his soda. 

"But let's enjoy the good food and have a good time okay?"

Jak shook off the crap he was happening as his stomach rumbled again as Jak opened the fresh boxes and gave some pizza to Dax like a child who hadn't eaten in forever. Daxter and Jak were literally pigging out for the better sense of the world and they haven't eaten in weeks?



Daxter ate the wings and his stuffed mouth said "Mmff, delicious so this is rich people food, huh mf Jak?"


Jak was eating as fast as Daxter as he went to the pizza first. 

Giving them time to breath, Jak finally stopped to listen to  Yusuke and became serious again.

"I'm glad there's a chance...to gain my world again... "

It's not hopeless.. maybe there's a chance to run into these "Keybladers"..

Dax how you think we are going to last in the future in this new world...


"There's always a way to find jobs around here i think, right?"

Yusuke laughed when daxter said they were eating rich people food.

"Actually Daxter what you are eating is considered 'Junk Food' to most people here as it has a lot of unhealthy calories in it. But since i rescued you guys from a dry desert i think it was the best idea then filling up on the 'Real stuff'." 

Yusuke handed Jak and Daxter a menu for a fancy restaurant.

"Here is what we consider to be rich people food, It's rather pricey and it tastes better then this but due to the rich flavorings it's hard to eat it fast." 

Yusuke overheard Daxter asking about jobs.

"Well there is a lot of different odd jobs to do on the notice board but there are also the ones that aren't on the board and are located within the police station of which are the most dangerous but highest paying. They have you doing several tasks for clearing out heartless of which i already told you about. But first i recommend we set you two up right with some weapons, after we eat of course."

Yusuke took another sip of his soda.

Jak nodded and looked at Yusuke as they almost finished all the food. Daxter blinked "Hey Jak, look at this fancy food thing... Lob-ster, fish, escargo, steak... Fish? We've had lurker fish... and been chased by them.



Jak looked stunned "There's better food out there? Impressive.. He caught himself dribbling."


Jak eyed Yusuke and said "So... what weapons are we talking here? I'm not used to much without eco and/or guns and my "sides"


Daxter said "He gets all mean and nasty when you piss him off, so don't piss him off"

Eco what is that? Wait wasn't Scratch trying to pawn off something called Eco a ways back?
Daxter's little threat didn't deter Yusuke at all instead it made him a bit relieved as he wouldn't have to worry about their safety.

"Well I can be quite dangerous if you piss me off too but i'm not the kinda guy who would just randomly hurt his friends." 

Yusuke got up and then handed his spare set of keys to Jak. 

"My home is your home for now guys. Anyways we are headed to 'Black Cat Alley' obviously named after someone with too much time on his hands. It's an alley hidden within many other alleys so try not to get lost. Oh and before i forget that Eco you are looking for is sold by a guy I know named Scratch, though he's quite different then most people here. In a sense he's like daxter, but he does sell weapons of most kinds and was recently trying to sell me this eco stuff not that long ago." 

As they headed down the many different alleyways they came upon many twists and turns with different paths to end up at a dead end of sorts with a single steel door. 

"What's the Password?" A mysterious voice sounded from the door.

Yusuke frowned and practically yelled "It's me you furball now let me in or i'll kick it down again!" 

A surprised look in the set of green eyes that looked from the door quickly spoke in a hurried tone.

"No! No! Yusuke Come in! Come in! I was just suspicious of these other two!" 

Yusuke kicked the door in as it was being slowly creaked open. 

"Well don't be! They are actually here to buy your stupid shit!" 

As they entered the shop they were not only presented with a large array of weapons and armor but the owner was a large fat black cat who had green eyes, a monocle on his left eye and a large scar on his stomach that looked like a scratch from the heartless. 

"Oww! You almost broke my monocle with that Yusuke! Oh well, what do you fine gentleman need tonight?" 

Jak shook his head and frowned "Makes sense since eco's such a rare commodity these days, right?

Daxter shrugged "I see."

Jak took the spare keys from Yusuke as he opened the door first after Jak and Dax cleaned up the mess they made. You first, Yosuke. We don't know the way yet..."

Daxter smiled "Jak, we have a home.. right now.. temp but we'll get one soon.."

Seriously, Jak... why can't we get a real car or somethin'. They don't even have real zoomers around here or anything? Geeze!

Jak groaned once again "Fun trip this will be."

Daxter said "Oh come on, really? This "black cat" is such a big ego that he had to name a street after himself? Come on... I've seen Erol with a bigger head than him."

"We shoulda taken that path, seems like lots o' fun, maybe there's precursor orbs like tha' old days, right? "

Jak once again just stared at him and kept walking with Yosuke. 

Jak groaned and held his head for a second and said "Don't mind Dax, he can be annoying sometimes".

Daxter muttered "HEY! I heard that."

After every moment about Daxter's constant complaining from everything from the Cheshire cat from paths to secret doors. 

 
Once the door opened up and Yusuke talked to get them in, Jak said "Wait, we are not suspicious. All we want is some of your weapons. Oh, we are also now roommates with Yusuke and I'm as strong as he is. 

But wait, yusuke broke the door in..

Daxter smirked "Wow, that changes everything..."

"Do that again, Yusuke"

Jak stopped and let Daxter hop down as he went to meet Scratch.

Jak did the talking with Scratch as Daxter went to insult the critter who sold the weapons. 

Jak tried to drown out daxter's insults as Jak looked at the talking cat with the monocle. "I can't be considered a gentleman but me and Daxter here would like some basic weapons.."
