A terrible curse was released from its prison. Soul Edge. A sword born from mans wicked desires and the blood of its enemies. With it, Nightmare returned. The Azure Knight was a symbol of destruction and the protector of Soul Edge. Now that he had been revived, he would set out to revive the full power of Soul Edge and complete the blade. Completing such a weapon was a long and daunting task, one that Nightmare had taken time and time again. Nightmare, donned in iconic azure armor and a large grotesque arm, stuck out like a sore thumb in Traverse Town. There was no doubt that his appearance was startling to most, as it should be. His weapon, Soul Edge, was clutched in his left hand. It was a large blade, covered in flesh and a giant eye that observed all.
However, Nightmare was lost. He was in a land that was completely unfamiliar to him. The architecture of the buildings was nothing like he had ever seen before. It was perplexing at best, but also a blessing in disguise. There were innocents in the area -a fresh garden of souls for Nightmare to harvest. To complete Soul Edge he would not only have to have a constant supply of souls, but also fragments of the blade. The Azure Knight grabbed the sword with his demonic hand and stabbed it into the ground. Closing his eyes he focused on the energy signals of the fragments of the blade. The sword pulsed, but nothing happened. "What?" Questioned Nightmare, removing the blade from the ground.
"Not a single trace." How? How could there not be a single trace of the sword? In the past he was able feel them from across the entire land! But now he ended up short and that had never happened before. It might've been a better idea to conceal himself as Graf Dumas and question the residents of the town, but he was sure the answers would fall flat. Before he would harvest his souls, he'd have to get a better idea of exactly where he was. The Third District was rather quiet, but it wasn't the only area around.

TUCK IN A NIGHTMARE SOMEONE ELSE IMAGINED i won't forget, i'll remember who i am NOTESTell me if it needs any edits. Sitting atop of bell tower in the Second District, Dark made himself comfortable upon the tiled roof. A beautiful view overlooking the city and it's districts, he was enjoying spending some time away from the hustle and bustle of the First District, where almost everyone lived and remained. Those with hearts, feared the Heartless who sought to steal it from them. For Dark, a shadow with no heart of his own and very similar in nature to the Heartless, it was a paradise.
The Heartless were, when not attempting to consume hearts, actually very affectionate and interesting, much like animals. Currently, he was enjoying the company of several shadows and a few Wyverns, who were roosting in the bell tower. One little shadow, who he'd met in Asphyxia's company, had decided to remain with him. Currently, it was nesting on his shoulder.
A curious sensation rippled through the air. Darkness had entered the area, powerful enough to resonate through the shadows. Curious, the shadow sat up, the little shadow making a noise of complaint as it tumbled into his lap. "Hmm?" He murmured to himself, looking out in the direction that the sensation had originated from. Darkness of that caliber did not often visit these parts, and he couldn't help but find himself intrigued.
Sinking into the shadows, becoming as one with them, Dark opened a quick Corridor and sauntered through, popping back up in the area where he'd sensed it. The Third District huh? A few Large Bodies were wandering around, looking dull and aimless as always. His little Shadow friend popped out of the shadows beside him, melding into the ground and crawling up a wall, disappearing from sight. "Now, where did that come from?" He pondered, feeling the sensation of darkness growing far stronger. Stepping out onto the streets, he followed his senses until coming upon the source.
"New around these parts?" He drawled, eying up the other with great curiousity. Well now, it wasn't everyday that you saw something like that. Clearly, whatever- or whoever- it was, it wasn't human. But it looked like it was intelligent enough to talk- certainly enough to fight, judging from the fearsome sword it wielded. Tragically for Nightmare, Dark had no soul for the other to siphon off of.

A voice called out to him. Usually those who approached Nightmare in this form were looking to stop the Azure Knight, but this encounter was different. A being of darkness? Questioned Nightmare, upon first look of Dark Link. He seems oddly familiar. Nightmare couldn't put a face to the mysterious memories, but it wasn't a huge deal. There were many that Nightmare faced in his time, likely it was someone forgettable. It wasn't often that Nightmare came in contact with someone purely made out of darkness, or at least had a shade of dark like his own. He would make a very good collection for his sword. Soul Edge had pulsed, but felt nothing in return. A wandering shadow? It seemed that nothing was part of the usual.
"You could say." Snarled out Nightmare, his voice was as warped as his appearance. There seemed to be a hint of humanity within his voice, but it was almost non-existent. "From what parts do you hail? Tis not often beings like us roam openly." Glowing red eyes focused on the nearby Heartless. The Azure Knight could feel their darkness, they too were similar. "Or them." He said in reference to a few of the Soldier Heartless roaming about. Dark Link's 'body' looked agile and spry, but likely very unstable for Nightmare's needs. It would be a pass, but perhaps he could be useful in other ways. As said earlier, it wasn't often that people approached him. "Fact of the matter, I know not of what these parts are."
Perhaps if he knew where he was, he might be able to get a head start in completing Soul Edge.

An eyebrow raised at the knight's interesting voice. He sounded like he was trying to gargle with knives, to be quite frank. Seemed like the darkness wasn't as kind to everyone when it came to good taste. "Another world, obviously." He replied idly, glancing the other over curiously. "Everyone who comes here is actually from an entirely different world. We all got dragged here when the darkness consumed and destroyed our worlds." He shrugged lightly. He wasn't exactly torn up about Hyrule's destruction- he didn't have anything that made him feel especially loyal towards it.
"This is Traverse Town." He responded in answer to the other's question. "Place where all of the lost wind up. If your heart is strong enough, you can wind up here instead of consumed like the darkness like your world." Curiously, he smirked a bit. "First District is that way-" A gesture to the direction, "If you want to have some fun with the humans. No one with a heart comes 'round these parts unless they want to confront the Heartless."

The boy before him, even if he could call it that, seemed to have somewhat of an attitude. Though he did have really good information on the mechanics of the situation. "Consumed by Darkness?" Nightmare spoke along as he got information. It was almost like a dream come true for the evil sword-bearer, worlds swallowed in Darkness. Though recently he was more trying to conquer his own world, rather than destroy it, just the thought of whole realms being plunged into the abyss really pleased him. It was interesting enough that people would get transferred to completely different realms if they too were swallowed whole.
Dark Link had then pointed him toward the First District, where there were plenty of humans. While the idea of gathering more souls for his blade was enough to urge him toward the First District, he was really interested with what the boy told him. "People without hearts and these "Heartless" you say populate this area?" While Soul Edge and Inferno lacked any internal organs themselves as they were full fledged demons, the idea of others without hearts was interesting. Were there more like him? And what of the Heartless creatures? "Are these Heartless considered demons? What hand do they play in this land?" Nightmare doesn't remember his own world being plunged into Darkness, he would've done that himself! "And are you saying that there are other advanced users of darkness that can destroy worlds?" He knew that Soul Edge could corrupt people like himself and Abyss, but if there was another means of gathering energy for Soul Edge he was very interested. If there was another being that could consume worlds like himself, he would have to meet him.

"Mmhm. The Heartless have the ability to travel throughout the corridors of darkness in order to attack worlds. I don't know a whole lot of how they do it though." He shrugged lightly, before glancing down as a shadow popped up from between his feet. Crouching down, he scooped the little thing up in his arms and gave it a few head pats, causing the little shadow to squirm joyfully from the attention. Heartless were really a lot like felines, weren't they? Needy little things.
"All of the Districts except the first. They don't like a lot of light." He replied, with a slight yawn. He didn't like the light a whole lot either- it was why he preferred it out here. Better company anyways. "More like just beings of pure darkness." He shrugged lightly. Demons was a rather subjective term. "All the Heartless want to do is consume hearts and create more Heartless, but there are probably those who use them for their own ends." There always was those who would use the darkness, wasn't there?
Turning, he created a portal straight into the first realm. "If you want, a shortcut to the first district." He replied idly, before stepping back. "If you wanna learn more about it, why not go find someone who knows? I've heard rumors about some powerful dark magic users hanging around lately."

So it seemed that the Heartless had the ability to cross between many different worlds to cause havoc. The Azure Knight watched as the dark being had picked up one of the so-called deadly creatures and treat it like a common house pet. Nightmare wasn't so enthused by the affection the dark beings had toward one another. The Shadows weren't doing much for him in terms of impressing, perhaps there were more breeds of Heartless out there? Are they so easy to command, do they just need a strong ruler? Thoughts went through Nightmares head as he plotted to incorporate the creatures to help him finish Soul Edge.
They did seem to crave hearts, but were they the same type of heart that Nightmare was thinking of? Either way, he would have to observe these creatures for himself before he made any further plans with the beasts. If they were truly beings of pure Darkness, then he'd think they were more vile than what he's seen so far. Nightmare watched as he created a portal for the Knight, an advanced level spell from where he came. Perhaps he would pay some humans a visit. It was about time for him to do some soul harvesting anyway. "Your information was useful." Nightmare said as he walked toward the portal.
" 'Til we cross paths again, boy." The Azure Knight nodded as he stepped into the portal and exited out into the First District. While it seemed quiet, there were a few humans around, enough to satisfy Nightmare's lust. Quickly he went to work, using Soul Edge and his raw power to overcome the innocents and absorb their essence with his blade He might've seen an object float out from their bodies, but he wasn't paying much attention to whatever that was. It was strange, but not enough to fully capture his attention. Soul Edge glowed a bright red every time a soul was taken. This time he took about three, but it was enough for now. There was a long road ahead of Nightmare, and if what the boy said was true, the universe held many souls waiting to be reaped by the Azure Knight.
