ANAKIN SKYWALKER |
played by Sirfy male 45 heart of darkness human |
appearance |
Clad in his intimidating suit of custom-made Sith Armor, Darth Vader is a terrifying figure to behold. Standing in at an impressive height of six foot, six inches, and weighing in a t a whopping 300 pounds he is a literal brick wall in terms of stature, made only all the more obvious by the intentionally intimidating design of his armor. As years went by and damage was sustained in battle, the suit was further streamlined and modified in its outward appearance, becoming sleeker and more effective at its primary tasks: being impossible not to recognize and being a terrifying mask to present as the face of the Empire. With added bulk at the shoulders to support durable armor plating and a helmet crafted to resemble an angry, leering skull more than any human face, it is truly a thing to behold. Under all of the armor, however, Vader's mangled body is much less terrifying to behold. Twisted, scarred and sickly pale flesh, shot through with his veins showing clearly. Ravaged and gnarled bones — those that still remain, at least. His hair has all burned away and never regrown. His eyes, stained a dark yellow color by his embracing of the Dark Side, are the only things not twisted and deformed by his defeat and near death at Obi-Wan's hands, and remain full of life and rage. |
personality |
The man that was once Anakin Skywaler is all but gone, subsumed into the morass of guilt and self-hate that has twisted itself around to become the dark lord, Darth Vader. Racked with agony over his own perceived failures, the perceived betrayal of his closest friends and even his wife, and his insecurities over what he had become after being "saved" by the Emperor, Vader has become distance and cold, adopting a stern, unshakable policy that he radiates outward to all who encounter him. Perhaps reflecting his own self-hatred, Vader despises any and all forms of weakness or failure, and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy for such things, often exacting disproportionate punishments or even outright executing his subordinates who had the misfortune to be anything less than successful in his presence. His faceless mask made it even easier to hide his true emotions and feelings, and he capitalized on this, using the mask as much for intimidation as to make it impossible for those speaking to him to gauge his reaction to their conversation. He was not wholly without emotion, however, and the cold, implacable exterior the Sith Lord displayed could be cracked by certain events, and as shown by his son, Luke, he was not an evil man at his core, just a broken one, forced to lose his sense of self to cope with what he had done and become. |
History |
((History courtesy of, and modified slightly from, this wikipedia page. A much, much, much more comprehensive history can be found here, for the insane and/or curious:: Click here for insane history. )) Raised on the planet Tatooine by his mother Shmi Skywalker, Anakin had no father, implying miraculous birth. He is a gifted pilot and engineer and has the ability to "see things before they happen". He even creates his own protocol droid C-3PO. Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn meets him after an emergency landing on Tatooine. After discovering that Anakin's blood has an unusually high number of midi-chlorians, Qui-Gon becomes convinced the boy is the "Chosen One" foretold by a Jedi prophecy as the one who will bring balance to the Force. Anakin wins his freedom in a podrace, but is forced to part with his mother. Qui-Gon takes Anakin to the Jedi Council, but they forbid training on the grounds that the boy's future is clouded by the fear he exhibits. During the film, Anakin forms a close bond with Naboo Queen Padmé Amidala. During the invasion of Naboo, Anakin helps defeat the Trade Federation by destroying their command ship. After Qui-Gon is killed in a duel with Sith Lord Darth Maul, Obi-Wan Kenobi promises to train Anakin, a proposal the Jedi Council reluctantly accepts. The Galactic Republic's newly-elected Senator Palpatine befriends the boy. Ten years later, Anakin Skywalker is depicted as a Padawan learner of Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi. Chancellor Palpatine assigns Anakin and Obi-Wan to investigate an assassination attempt made on Senator Padmé Amidala. Anakin travels with Padme to Naboo where they fall in love. Anakin has a vision of his mother in pain and goes to Tatooine, where he learns that she had been kidnapped by Tusken Raiders. He goes to the Tusken camp, where he discovers too late that his mother has been tortured to death. Anakin snaps, killing everyone at the campsite with his lightsaber. After he returns with his mother's body, he tearfully confesses his crime to Padmé. Soon after, Anakin and Padmé travel to Geonosis to rescue Obi-Wan from Sith Lord Count Dooku (Darth Tyranus) and his Separatists army but they are instead captured and sentenced to be executed. Anakin and Padmé profess their love for each other moments before being rescued by an army of clone troopers and Jedi. During a lightsaber duel with Tyranus, Anakin loses his right arm and later has it replaced with a prosthetic. At the end of the film, Anakin and Padmé marry in a secret ceremony. And then he fought in the Clone Wars. Three years later, Anakin Skywalker is a Jedi Knight and hero of the Clone Wars. He and Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi lead an attempt to rescue Supreme Chancellor Palpatine after being kidnapped by Separatist leader General Grievous. During the rescue, Anakin defeats Count Dooku in a lightsaber duel and decapitates Dooku on Palpatine's urging. When he returns to Coruscant, he meets with Padmé Amidala and discovers she is pregnant with his child. That night, he has a vision of Padmé dying in childbirth; he fears it will come true as it is similar to visions he had of his mother before she died. Meanwhile, Palpatine names Anakin his representative on the Jedi Council; the Council, suspicious of Palpatine's dictatorial power in the Senate, denies Anakin's rank of Jedi Master and asks him to spy on Palpatine, whom Anakin considers a friend and mentor. Frustrated at being excluded from the council, Anakin begins to lose faith in the Jedi. Palpatine eventually reveals to Anakin that he is the mastermind behind the war and that the dark side holds the power to save Padmé's life. Conflicted, Anakin reports Palpatine to Jedi Master Mace Windu. Despite orders to remain behind, Anakin follows Windu to the Chancellor's office to ensure Palpatine is captured alive. He walks in on Windu ready to kill Palpatine and intervenes on the Sith Lord's behalf, severing Windu's lightsaber arm; Palpatine then kills Windu with a blast of Force lightning. Desperate to save his wife, Anakin pledges himself as Sith apprentice Darth Vader. Palpatine sends his new apprentice to kill every Jedi and then to assassinate the Separatist leaders on Mustafar. Padmé meets her husband there and pleads with him to flee Palpatine's grasp with her but he refuses, saying that the two of them can overthrow Palpatine and rule the galaxy. When Obi-Wan emerges from Padmé's ship, Anakin accuses her of conspiring against him and uses the Force to choke her into unconsciousness. Anakin then engages Obi-Wan in a lightsaber duel, which ends when Obi-Wan severs Anakin's legs and remaining organic arm in mid-air. He then slides too close to a lava flow and is immolated, sustaining life-threatening third-degree burns. Distraught, Obi-Wan picks up Anakin's lightsaber and leaves his former friend to die. However, Palpatine reconstructs his apprentice's ruined body with the cybernetic limbs and black armor from the original trilogy. When Vader regains consciousness, Palpatine tells him Padmé died as a result of his anger. The news of her death breaks what remains of Anakin's spirit as Vader screams in torment. Vader is last seen alongside Palpatine and Wilhuff Tarkin viewing the original Death Star's construction. Several years later, Along with Grand Moff Tarkin, Vader is charged with recovering the Death Star's technical schematics stolen by the Rebel Alliance seeking to overthrow the Galactic Empire. While Princess Leia escape thanks to her rescuers, Vader fights Obi-Wan Kenobi in a lightsaber duel and kills his former master. During the battle of Yavin, Vader personally leads a squadron of TIE fighters and shoots down several Rebel fighters. Vader, in his personal TIE Interceptor, pursues Luke Skywalker's X-Wing fighter down the trench leading to the Death Star's exhaust port until the Millennium Falcon piloted by Han Solo clipped Vader. After being clipped and sent flying into deep space, he survives the Death Star's explosion. Three years later, Darth Vader leads an Imperial starfleet in pursuit of the Rebels. Vader captures Princess Leia, Han Solo, Chewbacca and C-3PO on Cloud City to use them as bait for Luke Skywalker. Although Vader has Solo frozen in carbonite and delivered to Boba Fett, Leia and the others escape thanks to Lando Calrissian. During a lightsaber duel, Vader cuts off Luke's right hand and reveals that he is Luke's father; he then entreats Luke to convert to the dark side so they can "rule the galaxy as father and son". Horrified with Vader's confession, Luke throws himself into Cloud City's reactor core and ultimately escapes aboard the Millennium Falcon. Onboard his Star Destroyer, Vader telepathically tells Luke that it is his destiny to join the dark side. One year later, Darth Vader has all but given up inside. Luke Skywalker surrenders himself to Vader in to hopes to turn his father back "to the light side". Vader brings Luke onto the second Death Star where Emperor Palpatine tries to seduce Luke to the dark side. During their duel, Vader learns Princess Leia's identity as Luke's twin sister and threatens to turn her to the dark side if Luke will not submit. Enraged, Luke attacks and overpowers Vader, severing his mechanical right hand. Realizing he is close to suffering his father's fate, Luke refuses the Emperor's command to kill Vader and take his place. Watching the Emperor unleashes a torrent of Force lightning upon Luke, the sight of his son's suffering breaking the dark side's hold on himself, becoming Anakin Skywalker once more. Anakin throws the Emperor down the Death Star's reactor core to his death but is himself mortally wounded when the Emperor's lightning surges through his body, shorting out his life support system. Redeemed, Anakin asks Luke to remove his helmet. In his dying breaths, Anakin tells his son that there was good left in him after all. Luke escapes with his father's remains, which he burns in a funeral pyre. |
abilities |
Darth Vader was exceptionally skilled in the Force, capable of utilizing many, many powers and achieving a great number of feats. Nearly all of his abilities outside the norm were a part of this sole ability, though he did have other advantages on his side. {To see all of Vaders INSANE LIST OF FORCE POWERS, click here}Force Speed: Using the Force, Vader can speed up his movements greatly, including increasing the speed of his lightsaber strikes, to his general movement, allowing him to contend with foes that would otherwise outspeed him more effectively. Force Sense: In conjunction with the heads-up display within his mask, Vader's finely-developed Force Sense makes it all but possibly to sneak up on him. He can sense the presence of others hidden from physical sight around him for many meters easily, and can sense Force Sensetives or those with otherwise 'unique' presences over much larger distances. Precognition: Vader's precognition has not been dulled by his reconstruction and encasement within his foreboding armor. When combined with his Force Sense, Vader could predict with no small level of accuracy the way events would flow, in both battle and in normal interaction with the Empire, and used such skill to assist him both in a duel, in hunting down a target, or in a dogfight within his personal TIE fighter. Farsight: Farsight was a skill that allowed other applications of Force Sense and Precognition over great distances, either through space or time. Sensing allies in danger across lightyears of distance, meditating on and observing past events in great detail, or making long-term predictions with great accuracy. Force Vision: Force Visions were rare, extremely powerful and accurate visions of the future, often coming to Force Sensetives only in deep meditation or unconsciously in sleep. The events shown could be merely minutes or hours away, or could even predict events decades in advance, all with alarming accuracy. Telepathy: A basic ability of all Force Sensetives, to at least some degree. Direct communication is difficult, especially across larger distances, but with a strong connection or bond, the limits could be increased greatly. The chief uses for a Force User's Telepathy were for sensing emotions and reading surface thoughts, making it difficult to hide secrets from a Jedi or Sith, though direct mind reading was often invasive and could be easily detected and fought off with a strong enough will, or Force training. Alter Environment: Harnessing the Force energy naturally inherent in all things, a skilled user could manipulate that energy with a minimum amount of their own energy, producing devastating effects, such as earthquakes, lightning storms across expansive areas, massive waves and storms at sea, blistering heat or freezing temperatures, increasing or decreasing air pressure, or virtually any naturally occurring weather or atmospheric phenomenon, with the proper knowledge and methods. Animal Friendship: Sometimes referred to as Beast Control, this was a Force ability that allowed the calming of animals, and once calmed, they could be subtly influenced or manipulated, or even directly controlled and bent to the Force User's will. Drain Knowledge: A dark power that disrupted the flows of the Force, overpowering defenses with a fierce mental attack, ripping information from a victim's mind. It could be used to learn memories of the victim, drain the knowledge of a language, learn weaknesses or faults in a victim's physical or mental state or abilities, or even implant knowledge to a victim. The process was violent and intrusive, and carried the risk of damaging the victim psychologically. Force Deflection: While not an ability Vader commonly used, thanks to the advantages of his armor, Vader was capable of deflecting blaster bolts and other types of energy barehanded, including even other Force Powers, dissipating them, throwing them aside, or even reflecting them directly back at their source. He could deflect and redirect even attacks of overwhelming power, such as Force Pushes and Repulses by his apprentice, Galen Marek, Marek's own Force Lightning and even a lightning bolt, without damage to himself. Force Destruction: Force Destruction was a devastating dark side power, drawing a massive amount of energy from the dark side of the Force, and then discharged, using the user's body as the conduit. It covered a range of at least the user's height, if not greater, and could utterly vaporize nearly anything in its path. Even if targets managed to escape the direct blast, the sheer power of the blast was enough to hurl targets aside for several meters outside the direct damage range, often with bone-breaking force. |
Force Eruption: A more powerful, longer-reaching and larger radial variant of Force Cannon, but otherwise identical. Taking slightly longer to gather energy, it reaches nearly twice as far, and deals much greater damage, capable of utterly desintegrating a human-sized target.
[/ul]
Force Jump: Force Jump was a basic application, but a very practical and useful one. Augmenting jumping strength, the user could easily leap several times their own height, with powerful or skilled practitioners being able to leap dozens of meters. When combined with Force Speed, a user could Leap tremendous distances. While Vader rarely emplys this ability any longer due to the relative inflexibility of his armor, he still bears no small amount of skill in its use, making use of it chiefly to reach higher ground, or else cover vast horizontal distances quickly.
Force Lightning: Perhaps the best known ability of the dark side of the Force. While Vader's destroyed and mostly mechanical body can no longer use this technique without risk, he is still capable of wielding this devastating power, should he wish to bear the risks or cease to care about them. Alternatively, he could use a unique variant he developed himself, summoning Force Lightning directly above his opponent and having it strike them like a bolt of lightning.
Force Scream: When in the grip of a powerful rage, or grief, or any other extremely strong emotion, and a scream was released...it often manifested as an unconscious Force exertion. The sheer magnitude of the emotions being blasted out through the force could cause immense destruction in the area around the Force user, cracking the ground and destroying walls, and could be felt for incredible distances. Other living beings in close enough proximity to a Force Scream could find themselves in great danger, the sheer magnitude of the dark emotions behind the Scream capable of battering down physical defenses and smashing apart mental ones with terrifying ease, inflicting unimaginable damage. The only downside to a Force Scream was that it was both involuntary and indifferent about who or what it damaged.
Kinetite: A variation on Force Lightning, where 'Force energized lightning' was formed into a sphere, packed with restrained kinetic energy, which could then be thrown at an enemy. While the projectile might seem unassuming, with proper skill it could flatten entire bunkers made of ferrocrete with a single blast, or cause devastating damage to a single target.
Force Barrier: While he rarely employed the ability in common confrontations, Vader retained the skill to create a powerful Force Barrier. It appeared as a mostly transparent glow of red most times, though at others it appears nearly clear, and nothing more than a shimmer or ripple in the air.
Mind Trick: Vader was skilled in using the Jedi Mind Trick, and the darker variants of instilling fear and dominating minds.
Force Fear: Force Fear was a dark side power that struck at the deepest parts of a target's mind, bringing forth their darkest fears and using them as a weapon to incapacitate them. With sufficient will, a user could completely drain a target of hope and courage, leaving them a cowering mess that would pose no threat, and often flee in terror.
[/ul]
Telekinesis: One of the main and perhaps the most well known branch of Force power available to Jedi and Sith, Telekinesis involved using the Force to manipulate either the user themselves, or their surroundings in a vast number of ways.
Force Pull: Another basic ability of telekinesis, Force Pull was used to caused an object or an area to be pulled closer to the user. With higher skill, the number and size of objects, as well as the affectable range with a single pull, increased greatly. Vader's skill is sufficient to easily pull multiple human-sized objects toward him with great strength.
Rend: A dark power, Rend took a single object and pulled it in two seperate directions at once, in effect stressing it to the point it would tear in two.
Force Disarm: A simple ability, employing the pull on an opponent's weapon(s) to disarm them.
Force Push: Force Push was a simple ability with an array of uses. Its chief use was in creating a telekinetic impulse to strike a target or area, pushing them back or flinging them through the air. More powerful users could expand the impulse to affect much greater area at once, without sacrificing power. Vader was powerful enough to Push an area before him several meters radial, and with enough force to hurl even several Wookiees into walls with lethal force.
Force Whirlwind: A more advanced form of Force Push that involved manipulating air currents to create a swirling vortex to trap an opponent, or multiple opponents, suspended helplessly in the air.
Force Wave: A powerful form of Force Push that was likened to a telekinetic bomb, blasting out in all directions with great power. More powerful Force users could easily kill with simply the telekinetic shockwaves created from the blast.
Force Repulse: A skill Vader was a master of, Force Repulse creates a dense field of Force energy that draws in objects human-sized or smaller, dangling them helplessly in the air, before blasting them with a powerful telekinetic blast. With sufficient power, it was possible to easily kill targets caught in the blast, or even completely disintegrate targets.
Force Throw: An ability Vader became well-known for using, especially after his cybernetic reconstruction, and a skill he mastered to such a degree that he could use it without a gesture, or even facing what he was throwing. His skill with it was such that he could lift and hurl multiple objects without even looking at them, and could lift and hurl objects as large as TIE fighters with ease.
Force Blast: A powerful, focused blast of the Force, striking a small area, but with incredible force. Useful for striking a specific target, as when Vader shattered Starkiller's lightsaber.
Force Wound: Force Wound was a lesser variation on Force Choke and Kill, where pressure was applied to a specific part of a target's body -- usually an organ of some sort, such as the heart or lungs -- and crippling or incapacitating them.
Force Kill: An advanced variant of Force Wound, taking it to the next step, and completely crushing the pressured target. The result is usually extreme pain at the minimum, or nigh-instantaneous death in others, as befitting its name.
Force Choke: One of Vader's truly signature powers, it employed the Force to grip a victim's throat, choking them. While at lower levels it merely applied pressure and could hamper or prevent breathing entirely, it was possible to outright crush the throat of a target or strangle them completely, killing them slowly. Vader was accomplished in all variations on this power, and used them all frequently.
Force Grip: A Force skill where a target was gripped powerfully by the Force and lifted into the air. From there, they could be moved virtually freely, crushed painfully, thrown about, or even combined with other powers such as a Push or Choke, or even crushing bones or organs painfully.
Force Crush: An extremely violent ability, where the target was lifted into the air, and then crushed to the degree they would implode. Vader was skilled enough in this technique's use that he could employ it on a normal human without any effort, and could Crush light vehicles and starfighters without any great difficulty.
Saber Throw: A seemingly simply technique, where the user's lightsaber was thrown as a projectile, and guided with the Force to strike a specific target, or whirl like a deadly blade on its flight path, before being recalled to its wielder's hand.
Force Levitation: Force Levitation was an ability that allowed a user to hover above the ground, or drastically slow their momentum during a long fall, allowing them to cover even longer distances with a Force Leap, or protect themselves in the event of an uncontrolled fall. While he has not practiced this particularly ability greatly, Vader displays some modicum of skill in its use.
Force Flight: Taking Levitation to the logical extreme, Force Flight enabled a user to telekinetically 'launch' themselves in one direction, usually at great speed. While true flight is extremely difficult and usually requires great concentration or great practice, Vader has obtained a respectable level of skill, able to make brief flights of up to a few hundred meters before he must land again.
[/ul]
Tutaminis: Tutaminis referred to a wide range of skills all relating back to the basic concept of absorbing energy for some purpose.
Force Absorb: Force Absorb was used to absorb energy from any number of sources, from blaster fire, to kinetic energy generated from Force powers, to natural phenomena such as lightning bolts or fire, to any number of sources, and chiefly used to fuel Force powers of the absorber without expending their own energy.
Redirect Energy: A branch of Tutaminis that skipped the middle ground usually occupied by directly absorbing the energy to fuel another power, and simply redirecting existing energy without changing its form, such as changing the flow of a Force Lightning barrage, or hurling aside a Push.
Protection Bubble: A spherical barrier of Force energy that could be used both as a shield and a 'field' to absorb energy. It effectively extended the range of Absorbing energy to every direction around the user, as opposed to simply the hands, as was the usual medium for Absorbing or Redirecting energy.
Disrupt Energy: When absorbing energy from a continuous source, such as a lightsaber, the energy source would usually be uneffected. With this branch of Tutaminis, it is possible to disrupt the flow of an energy source, in effect shutting it off temporarily.
[/ul]
Force Rage: A dark side power that brought a user's fears, pain and hatred to the surface, warping and twisting them into an intense, almost overpowering rage. This surge of raw emotion, amplified by the Force, gave an immense boost to the user's own strength, speed and ferocity, enabling even a mediocre Force wielder to become an extremely powerful engine of destruction. Its only flaw was the draining, debilitating effect it had on the body when maintained for extended periods. Vader has learned to control his Rage to some degree, calling upon it in short bursts, not letting it cloud his mind, making him all the more deadly.
Dun Möch: At its most basic, Dun Moch could be called psychological warfare. And that is essentially what it is. But it is much more than that. It is an entire combat doctrine of its own, and a dark doctrine it is, employed almost solely by Sith. Combining a Force sensetive's ability to sense the emotions and surface thoughts of others, it relied on taunts, jeers, threats and all manner of verbal abuse and psychological warfare, all backed subtly by the Force, designed to disrupt an opponent's concentration, make them doubt themselves, dwell on grave thoughts, and generally distract them from the battle.
Other Powers: Given his power, skills and displayed abilities, it is highly likely Vader is able to use several other Force Powers, including the following, and possibly even more.
Combustion: An ability that enabled users to cause an object to explode by sheer force of will. It was very rarely used on living beings, and the larger the object, or the more dense it was, the more difficulty was involed in causing it to explode, but the ensuing explosion would likewise be larger as a result.
Force Subjugate: Force Subjugate was a power that directly attacked the mind of a target, damaging their psyche to warp and twist their emotions, calming or enraging them, or in some cases draining the energy of other Force users.
Pyrokinesis: Pyrokinesis was the ability to generate and manipulate fire on a wide scale. Manipulating na already existing source of fire was much easier than generating it, but the range of manipulation was great either way, including coaxing a small fireplace fire into a raging inferon, or even redirecting the firey blast of an explosion, to creating a firey explosion or a flamethrower-like blast under the user's control.
Mechu-deru: Possibly contributing to Vader's great understaning of technology and his skills as a mechanic, Mechu-deru was a Force power that allowed the sensing of technology's structure, gaining an intuitive, extensive understanding of how the technology worked.
Memory Walk: Also called Torture by Chagrin, Memory Walk was a torture method that involved using the Force to force a victim to relive all of their worst memories, painful, tragic, or even merely embarressing, continuously and repeatedly to such a degree it almost seemed to cause physical pain and stress.
Force Sight: Force Sight was an ability that augmented a user's vision, enabling them to see the flows of the Force, increasing their perception of space and the beings around them. Advanced users could see in pitch blackness or even through walls, and could easily detect another Force user's alignment and could see through illusions or attempts at a Mind Trick.
Force Valor: At its most basic, Force Valor could be called a light-side equivalent to Force Rage, using the Force to inspire courage in the user and allies, increasing their strength, speed and precision greatly.
[/ul][/spoiler]
Superhuman Endurance: Even discounting the protection and ehnancements afforded him by his armor, Vader possesses a resistance to pain and incapacitation that is truly incredible. He can shrug off something as crippling as running himself through with his own lightsaber to strike at a foe in a surprise attack without even flinching. When truly determined, or when in the grip of his Rage, his already incredible endurance rises to terrifying levels, and he can simply shrug off and ignore nearly anything that does not immediately bring him down.
Inhuman Strength: Even discounting the enhancements of his cybernetic limbs, Vader is a strong man. Coupled with the Sith drugs that stimulate his destroyed nerves and muscles, he is strong enough to lift a grown man off the ground with only the strength of a single arm, and can use his cybernetic legs to make strong leaps and jumps that would seem to rival a Force Leap. When his Force Rage takes over, Vader's strength becomes terrifying indeed, letting him effortly crush human bone, punch through most conventional personal armor with ease, and even tear open armored bulkheads and doors with raw physical strength. This awe-inspiring strength is also present in his swordplay and combat prowess, allowing even the simplest, briefest of attacks to carry sufficient force to completely disarm an opponent, knocking their weapon clean from their hands, or else jar them to their very core from the impact if they are unprepared.
Master Lightsaber Combatant: Darth Vader was an extremely skilled duelist and lightsaber combatant. He employed a personalized style that incorporated elements from all seven forms of lightsaber combat, centered around a core of Form V, in addition to incorporating his own elements. His style is brutally effective, crisp and unpredictable, possessing extreme precision with his blows, and never employing anything less than a killing blow. The power and brutality of Vader's style on the offense was matched by an equally impressive defense element, making striking any sort of real damage against him extremely difficult. Combined with his mastery over the Force and his common implementation of it in battle, and Vader was an extremely accomplished duelist and combatant, one very few could best in direct combat, even when he was outnumbered.
Multilingual: Vader could understand and speak a number of languages. Included in this number were Galactic Basic Standard (what would appear to be English or an approximation of it), Huttese, the auditory Binary language of droids, and the Sith language.
Skilled Mechanic: Even after becoming encased in his fearsome Sith armor, Vader retains the skills he once had as an exceptional mechanic. While he rarely has the chance or need to employ these skills anymore, he was once lauded as being able to fix nearly anything, from a damaged droid motivator to a malfunctioning repulsorlift. With the current development of his Force powers, it is likely he could employ even more precise and exceptional feats of mechanical work than before.
Expert Pilot: Vader was widely regarded as one of the best pilots in the galaxy, and was capable of feats that should have been impossible, outflying even other ace pilots with ease. Even with his personal TIE fighter's targeting and navigation systems shut down, he was still able to fly on par with other ace pilots, and thanks to his connection with the Force and his precognition, combined with his already impressive piloting skills, Darth Vader was able to overcome nearly any obstacle ser before him in the pilot's seat.
Fast Learner: Vader was a remarkable learned, both when discovering new methods or skills, or when it came to learning from his mistakes. He rarely required more than one instance of an event before he learned from it and would not easily repeat a mistake twice.
Lightsaber: The lightsaber was the traditional weapon of the Jedi and Sith. It was a simple, relatively light hilt weighing in at near one kilogram, which emmitted a plasma blade of just over one meter in length, usually. The cutting power of a lightsaber was immense, and could cut through nearly anything. Special materials, or extremely dense materials, such as cortosis or thick durasteel plating, could resist lightsaber blades to varying degrees.
Sith Armor: Darth Vader's unique armor, created specifically for him, was a very special suit of hardware, containing many functions when combined with the cybernetic reconstruction done to his body.
{To see the armor's functions in detail, clicky clicky}Armor: The actual armor plating of the armor, chiefly centered around the helmet, shoulders, gauntlets and shins, was made of a unique blend of durasteel, obsidian and plasteel, further reinforced wiht the dark Sith Alchemy. While some might call the resulting armor alloy prohibitively heavy, the protection it offered was unquestionable. It was nigh-impervious to all forms of blaster fire, was resilient enough to shrug off even multiple hits from powerful slugthrower weapons, could resist explosions and powerful kinetic impacts remarkably well, and was extremely resistant against high levels of heat. The armor was even tough enough to withstand glancing blows from a lightsaber, requiring a dedicated, heavy strike to truly pierce the armor.
Mask: Darth Vader's mask was perhaps the most important part of his entire armor, containing a number of features and critical components that ensured proper functionality of the armor as a whole. The mask not only created an airtight, pressurized seal to help Vader's destroyed lungs breathe, but also served to help monitor Vader's body temperature and regulate it, and numerous panels and radiators in the top of the mask and helmet helped diffuse heat generated by the suit's operation.
[/i] Vader's mask contained a heads-up display that was projected onto the lenses of his mask. It gave him a readout on atmospheric composition, nearby environmental hazards, and contained a motion tracker to further augment his awareness of his surroundings. The mask not only created an airtight, pressurized seal to help Vader's destroyed lungs breathe, but also served to help monitor Vader's body temperature and regulate it, and numerous panels and radiators in the top of the mask and helmet helped diffuse heat generated by the suit's operation.
Comlink: Vader's mask contained a built-in comlink, enabling him to remain in contact with his servants and soldiers without dedicated equipment for that purpose.
Vision Enhancement: The lenses of Vader's mask, in addition to functioning as a HUD, also possessed the capability to offer infrared and ultraviolet vision, enabling Vader to see in pitch darkness. In the event of a bright light, as from a flashbang grenade or other such device, Vader's lenses also possessed a second layer of eye protection that would slide into place within miliseconds, filtering the excess light to protect Vader's damaged eyes from further damage.
Auditory Enhancement: Vader's mask contained sensors that could dampen soundwaves in the event of a sonic attack, and could also boost his hearing to ranges of 40 kHz, giving him exceptional hearing even within his helmet.
Olfactory Enhancement: Vader's mask served to amplify his sense of smell to an unknown degree.
[/ul]
Belt: On Vader's belt, he wore a multitude of small devices, including two system function boxes that controlled the temperature regulation system of his armor, and the sensor matrix for his respirator system. The belt also contained an audio enhancement unit built into the buckle, a small toolkit for emergency repairs, a spare energy cell in case his armor began to run out of power, and a backup comlink.
Cape: Vader's cape served several purposes. It was made of armorweave, making it surprisingly tough and affording light protection against even blasterfire and lightsabers to some degree. It served as a defense against fire and acid jets, protecting the suit's delicate electronics, and was used as a barrier to prevent grit and dust from clogging the suit's breathing filters.
Life Support: The life-support mechanism of Vader's armor was a complicated one, providing not only the necessary oxygen and pressurized atmosphere within his suit to survive, but also serving to help stimulate his destroyed muscles with electrical impulses, and inject him with special chemicals created with Sith Alchemy, which helped to nullify Vader's sensation of pain and further augment his already impressive strength.
Temperature Regulation: Vader's suit possessed a temperature regulation system powerful enough to allow him to walk on even the frigic, icy world of Hoth with no further equipment or protection, and could even function well enough in the vacuum of space.
Cybernetic Limbs: Vader's four limbs were all cybernetic prostheses, with his right arm being entirely mechanical. These cybernetics gave Vader impressive physical strength, even when not backed by his Rage. With proper modification, Vader's cybernetics could be tuned to allow him to break or crush nearly anything in his grip, leap to staggering heights and distances, run at speed greater than a normal human, and other such amazing feats.
Mandalorian Crushgaunt: A Mandalorian Crushgaunt was a deadly weapon, composed of a micronized Mandalorian Iron reactive fabric, making it nearly indestructible. It could withstand even a lightsaber blade with no damage. The primary purpose, and reason for the name, of a mandalorian crushgaunt was that its reactive fabric served to augment the natural hand-arm strength of its wearer greatly, enabling them to crush nearly anything. Combined with Vader's own great strength, in addition to his cybernetics and Force powers, anything Vader got his right hand on was destined to be crushed.
Sith Amulet: A Sith Amulet was a powerful artifact used to amplify the effects of Sith Magic. They were capable of many other feats, including allow one who bore them to read and understand ancient Sith text, and could be used to project devastating beams of pure Dark Side energy, project images and illusions, and even heal grave wounds. The efeact effects of the amulet Vader possess are, however, unknown.
Magnetized Boots: Vader's boots could be magnetized to adhere to magnetic surfaces with great strength, sufficient to withstand the depressurization of a hangar without sending him flying into the void.
Skeletal Reconstruction: Vader's skeleton was modified and partially reconstructed in addition to his cybernetic modifications. Vader's sternum was replaced with a perforated metal plate, and his right shoulder was replaced with a prosthetic. Nearly all of Vader's other remaining bones were modified with a tensile-strength augmentation, making them much more durable.
Neural Monitoring: Vader's nervous system was relatively undamaged from his injuries suffered at Mustafar, but it was still implanted with augmentations. Sensor webs planted along the spinal cord monitored the activity of neurons to his cybernetic limbs, and should they be interrupted, an emergency signal would be sent out to Vader's suboordinates.

weaknesses |
Mobility: While Vader's powerful prosthetics give him exceptional strength enough to counter the heavy weight of his armor and make him deceptively fast, the armor is somewhat bulky and unwieldy, limiting him from his full range of motion and greatly hampering his agility and overall maneuvarability. Life Support Suit: Vader's armor is a powerful and intimidating tool, to be sure. But it is also, perhaps, his main weakness. While getting through his defenses to damage it is no easy task, inflicting any damage to the sensitive control panel on his chest, or the mask over his face would severaly hamper his fighting ability at best, and endanger his life at worst. Weakened Force Connection: While still maintaining an extremely powerful command of the Force, Vader's destroyed and mostly mechanical body, compounded with his own conflicting emotional state has weakened his connection to the Force, making it more difficult to employ certain powers, or to utilize his full power as easily. While he can overcome this to some degree by giving in to his Rage, that has its own set of problems. Rage: Vader's Rage is a terrifying weapon inded, especially so in controlled bursts as he prefers to call upon it. But should he be pushed, such as when Galen Marek employed Dun Moch against him, or simply let his own anger get the best of him, he will often fly into a berserker's frenzy, unleashing a savage, relentless attack. While extremely powerful and terrifying, it also makes Vader predictable, trading precision and thinking for raw power, letting more level-headed foes more easily deal with him. Arrogance: While not to the condescending level of some other powerful Sith, Vader still holds his share of arrogance, often believing any fore he encounters is beneath him until proved otherwise, and rarely bringing his full power to bear at the beginning of any fight. He will often hold back, using a modicum of Force powers and wielding his lightsaber one-handed in a show of confidence and disdain for his foe's skills. Most often, by the time he realizes he may be outmatched and begins fighting seriously, it is either too late or he is at a disadvantage. Conflicting Emotions: Vader's emotions are heavily conflicted, especially regarding what he has done and who he has become. He manages to bury these emotions of grief and pain, only letting them free when calling upon them to fuel his own Rage. But, as Luke himself proved, there is still Good within Vader's heart -- somewhere, it is there, the good man that was Anakin Skywalker. Appeal to this side of him, or bring up his past in the opposite display of Dun Moch in the manner Luke did, and his focus can sometimes be broken, further weakening his connection to the Force and making him an easier opponent. Electrical Attacks: Due to the fact that he is much more mechanical than flesh and blood, Vader attracts electrical attacks like a lightning rod, and sufficiently powerful jolts or shocks can short circuit or even completely fry the delicate workings of his suit's life support systems. Shattered Heart: Vader's torn inner self and conflicting emotions — a tiny inner core of Light surrounded by a roiling mass of Darkness — make him a prime target for Heartless, and make him all the more vulnerable to losing himself to Darkness for good. |
