Things had gone relatively smoothly this day. He had been taking a trip across the worlds, simply examining them to make sure that he had been doing an adequate job in keeping the Heartless numbers in check. Unfortunately, ever since the fall of the Organization, there hadn't been many doing their part in keeping the worlds safe from harm. Albeit he was used to patrolling around and doing his usual "destroying Heartless" thing, it was quite a lot for one person to take on. His main motive was to keep people safe, and of course, he had ended the day with a stop in Twilight Town to get one of his favorite things - a sea-salt ice cream. He didn't really feel the motivation to go all the way to the top of the clock-tower, so he decided that he'd take a few minutes to simply rest on one of the benches there. He ate his ice cream, and then threw away the trash in the garbage can next to him.
Roxas did a quick patrol of the area (this was the first world he had hit on his list) just to make sure that nothing had happened while he had been away doing business in other places, and he had to destroy maybe one or two small shadows. Other than that, however, things seemed to be in tip-top conditions. He took in a deep breath, a smile forming upon his lips. He was so pleased, that he didn't even feel the pair of eyes that had been on him for quite some time, now.
He looked around just to make sure that there wasn't anyone watching him, and little to his knowledge, that inspection should have been much more thorough than it was. The blond advanced to a back alleyway, holding up his hand and opening up a corridor of darkness, the other end being in the gray room of the Castle that Never Was. If he was lucky, maybe Axel was there waiting for him, but since the redhead had promise to do his part in helping in their little project, he was probably out doing his own thing, as well. Which was fine. Roxas didn't mind the alone time every once in a while.
The ex-member walked through the portal, seeing the darkness all around him, deciding whether or not it found interest in him or not. It had been drilled in his head that the cloak was what protected him from the darkness, but he was beginning to discover that could very-well have been a ruse as well. The cloak could protect those with a heart that the darkness was after, but for someone like himself, someone nothing more than a husk, it would be virtually useless. The darkness worked in funny ways such as that - only doing things in ways that would benefit itself.
The Nobody appeared in the midst of the large, circular room, overlooking the dark town with the broken heart looming overhead in the sky. He heard the portal close behind him, and it was then that the loneliness set in.
