The sky above Traverse town was as dark as always. But below the dark sky, the town bustled with life. Those whose worlds were consumed by the Heartless were usually brought to this little town. This time the village had brought in a certain green gem.
Peridot held what the humans called a wrench in her hand. She had some time to herself for once, but continued to work on the drill and the task at hand. Every second counted- the Cluster could destroy Earth any day now- her along with it. She didn't have the option to flee either-Peridot had established a truce with the Crystal gems. That and Garnet had her tied up to the fence like a dog on a leash. Looking up at the night sky near the barnyard for a moment, Peridot was about to get back to work when the gem noticed something abnormal. They sky seemed to ripple- like someone tossed a pebble into a pond. Looking around, the rest of her surroundings began doing the same. Before she could call out to the others, an agonizing burning sensation spread through her small body. Everything began to go black as she screamed in pain. The floor disappeared from underneath her and being unable to endure it any longer, Peridot's body faded away, leaving nothing but a triangular green gemstone.
After she poofed into her gem, Peridot had been warped away to Traverse Town. Her gem flew through the sky after appearing and flew into an alleyway. Luckily for her, it didn't crack. After a few seconds, the gem began to glow brightly as Peridot reformed. She let out a quick yelp as she stumbled forward, but caught her balance. Was she dead? Did the Cluster emerge and kill everything already? Where in the stars was she now?
Breathing quickly and frantically looking around for anything familiar, Peridot quickly noticed something green sticking out from under a nearby dumpster. Running over to look at it closer, her hopes were confirmed as one, no, all of her limb enhancers had been somehow brought along with her. Dragging them out and sliding them back into their rightful places, Peridot experimented a bit with her gear to make sure it wasn't damaged, and to see if this was a dream. She even had shocked herself to see if this really was reality. As she experimented, the gem heard something fall behind her.
Yelping as she leapt into the air and readying her blaster, Peridot had her aim locked on a stray dog that had knocked down a trash can. Seemed it was just a small earth creature. Even with her abilities restored thanks to her limb enhancers, Peridot was paranoid and flighty. Everything was different and beyond her explanation. When she was caught by the Crystal Gems, Steven had been her security blanket. Now she had nothing. Peridot began to let the ball of plasma her blaster gathered fade until she heard some more shuffling behind her. Turning around, the green-skinned gem backed away a bit as she had her aim locked onto whoever or whatever had came up from behind her. Her arm still trembling slightly from the shock of the situation, she did manage to get some words out. " S-stay back! I will shoot!" WORDS: 549 TAGGED: N/A

The agile gem was able to keep her body in tact throughout the harsh transition between worlds through the darkness. Pearl's nimble body allowed her to swiftly dodge every obstacle, though the concern running through her was weighing heavily on her mind, and on her performance. A couple of calls were a bit too close for comfort, darkness attempting to eat away at her projected body. Her gem, being on her forehead, wasn't exactly protected too terribly well, and now was certainly not the time to sustain a crack.
Eventually, she was transported to the midst of what appeared to be another human town. This was a place she had never seen before, which was strange.. She had seen most of the cities upon the planet she called home for so long, and now she was faced with something else entirely. She looked up at the sky and saw the stars, though there was an unfamiliarity looming in on her about them that was unsettling to the servant gem.
"Ah- Excuse me!" She said with a wavering voice, catching the attention of a civilian, who looked at her with a confused and inquiring stare. "Could you please inform me of.. What our location is?" The person looked at the gem warrior as though she were nothing more than a kook, and that got to her a little, but, she did manage to get an answer out of him. He told her that she was in Traverse Town, a world that had manifested for those who had lost their.. worlds..?
The Earth was gone?!
The human walked away and it was all Pearl could do to simply clutch her stomach as a sick sensation ran through her. Her planet.. The planet she had fought for.. The planet Rose had fought for - Steven! Where was Steven?!
"Steven! Amethyst? Garnet?!" She called out in a hysterical voice, her slender frame beginning to run forward, looking at the shops and peering in through the windows, though the pink-haired gem couldn't find anyone that she recognized. That was, until, she rounded an alley corner of the First District and peered down to the end. She saw someone that was familiar. And it was unfortunate.
The runt was picking up something from underneath the dumpster, only for it to be revealed that it was the gem's lost limb enhancers. Confusion struck the pearl at that moment, her blue eyes blinking and vision narrowing. How did she manage to get those back? And why were they under there? She shook her head and took in a deep breath through her large nose, slumping her shoulders slightly. Her features spoke paragraphs about how much she didn't want to confront Peridot, but as of now, it was her best bet. Two sticking together was much better than one feeling lost, alone and afraid.
Or maybe that was just her.
Pearl took a few steps forward, obviously getting the others attention, as she reared around with her blaster ready to release a potent hit. Pearl simply stood there, frowning and crossing her thin arms.
"No you won't."

" Oh, it's just you. " She went back to her rather monotone voice as the technician lowered her attack. The gem's lowered blaster caused the plasma to fade, but her arm remained in it's cannon form. At first she had thought that some human or one of the other creatures in this place had come to attack her, but instead she found herself face to face with Pearl. Familiar ground, even if it wasn't that smooth, was welcome.
" Consider yourself lucky that we're still on truce. " Well, maybe they weren't on truce anymore. But it didn't really matter anymore- Peridot was really in no mood to fight. She was paranoid and scared. But to be honest, she was ever so slightly relieved to see a familiar face- but the gem quickly put aside the feeling. One thing she quickly noted was that the other clods that usually accompanied Pearl were nowhere to be seen. Usually Pearl was teamed up with Garnet, Amethyst, and Steven. Thinking about the rest, Peridot reminded herself that she was now on slightly better terms with Amethyst and Steven- they probably wouldn't try to shatter her on sight. But if Pearl really was alone, then something was seriously wrong. " ...Are the other ones with you? "
Peridot broke the silence with the same line she used back when she encountered Steven at the kindergarten. Deja vu aside, there was the sneaking suspicion in her mind that this might be a trap, but she brushed it aside. If it came down to it, Peridot could just fly away if she had to. More questions like where they were, what brought them here, if the Cluster emerged, and what exactly was to come next buzzed around in her mind, but she decided to take this one step at a time. Answers would come eventually, Peridot assured herself. WORDS: 307 TAGGED: @pearl Hope this works! On a side note, I finally found an image for the header of me template. Such a greeting was expected out of this home world runt, and Pearl was having to begrudgingly put up with it. Without Amethyst, Garnet and even Steven by his side, the servant-based gem was having to anxiously handle all of this on her own. Even though it would be a little more than annoying, it would probably be the smartest option to have Peridot hang around her. They might end up bashing each others faces in with more giant robots, but hey, minor casualties. It was rare that Pearl thought in ways as primal as this, but in such a dire situation, anything was possible.
Even another alignment with someone as ungrateful as this.
"I'm lucky?" The elegant dancer retorted with an irritated expression painting over her face. This was going to be rough; she even got along better with Amethyst than this annoying technician. "And no, they're not. I.. Didn't see them when I woke up." She averted her blue eyes to the side, her vocal tone retaining a little too much uncertainty than she willed it to. Her anxious tendencies were beginning to overwhelmingly act up, and the last thing she wanted to do was show any sort of weakness in front of a gem who thought they were so much more valid than she was.
But in the end, she was more valid, wasn't she?
"Have you seen Steven?" She tried to use urgency to cover it up. "He could be hurt, or worse - oh, what am I going to do?" Pearl turned, bringing one of her hands up to her forehead. She took in a deep breath and shook her head, refusing to let fearful tears slip out, as threatening as they were. The crystal gems were resilient, but Steven was gentle and consisted of a body that was irreplaceable; if something happened to him, it would be.. Catastrophic. All of these thoughts and worries were wrecking her entirely, but she wouldn't.. Show it. At least not to Peridot.
Or to anyone.
"Do you know why we ended up here?"

Peridot rolled her eyes beneath her visor in response to Pearl's first retort. Seemed like not much had changed since they were back on Earth. Heck, it probably was a matter of time before some more competition arose. But she'd still be superior, right? Last time when they fought with those robots, Peridot had won- but the Gem's respect still went to Pearl instead of her. She still didn't completely understand it, but this Pearl was... different from the others. The other Gems seemed to be nowhere to be found also, according to Pearl. That was... In her favor, Peridot figured.
"Have you seen Steven?" " The Steven? No. " "He could be hurt, or worse - oh, what am I going to do?" Peridot became somewhat flustered from the whole situation herself. She was still debating what to do next in this weird world. But it seemed like to accelerate the process of getting answers and progressing, she'd have to cooperate with Pearl- something that probably won't give a perfect 'happily ever after.' Nonetheless, having a breakdown over here would slow Peridot down. " Oh, get a grip. If I'm here and you're here, the odds point to the rest of you clods being here also."
"...Do you know why we ended up here?"
Peridot had done her research on Earth before she headed off to the blue marble awhile back. None of the data matched up to this realm, or anything about it at all anywhere in the Homeworld's archives. She had done plenty of missions in her time, but nowhere did Peridot ever hear or even think of something as ludicrous as the situation they were in. Being thrown into some strange reality was something that Peridot had never even thought of. Was this situation even scientifically possible? " Negative- I awoke here a few moments ago- The best I know is that this is some wierd Earth-esque town with who-knows-what else in it. The last thing I remember is working on that drill and being struck with some burning sensation. Then I woke up here." She left out some minor details from her description- like how much pain had been inflicted on her for whatever reason and poofing into her gem. She didn't want to show much weakness- but the facts were still stated. That was all that mattered for now. She'd have to get to the bottom of this- even if it meant working with Pearl, even if she wasn't so fond of it.

Peridot was never an easy one to communicate with. The way Homeworld worked was something that Pearl was so not used to at this point in her ageless life that it was a little more than annoying trying to speak with someone who still articulated in the way the gems back on her home planet did. Earth was so much more relaxed, and it was.. Something that Rose Quartz was willing to fight for.
For that reason, the servant gem would do everything in her power to continue to advance past her current state, and she would do so to protect those and what was important - that was what mattered. That was what Rose taught her, and she would do her best to make her proud, even f she wasn't around anymore to physically see the pearl's progress.
"These little.. things showed up out of nowhere." She began to explain, crossing her arms over her chest whilst she spoke to the green runt. "If they were gems, the must have had a mother, but.. We weren't able to find it before-" She trailed off at that point, averting her eyes again. Admitting defeat to Peridot was horrendous, but it wouldn't be in her favor to stretch the truth due to the situation they were in. "They were too much for us. There were just too many."
"Everything went dark, and when I opened my eyes again, I was.. Here."
Okay, now that the life story was out of the way, the Pearl turned and began to motioned for the other gem to follow her. "You're.. Welcome.. To come along." That sounded weird coming out of her mouth, but it had to be said. Honestly, she didn't want to be stuck her alone, even if the company was.. This. It was better than nothing, she figured. The two, as unfortunate as it was, worked well together when they were able to conjoin the intelligence they shared. They could exchange information that the other party may have lacked, and then could create something even better than either of them could do on their own.
"We need to check all of the dumpsters. Amethyst could be in any of them. Garnet could be anywhere, probably looking for everyone on her own, and Steven.. I'm not sure..."
(It's not problem!! : ) Take all the time you need, real life is always more important!!))

Little "things?" Vague, but Peridot decided not to question it- if it were one of the smaller Cluster creatures, Pearl would have known. There goes another threat to add to the growing pile of things that would probably try to shatter her. But the two seemed to have similar ways of ending up here- blacking out after some anomaly and waking up in this strange town. But Peridot never noticed any things scampering about- maybe because she was too focused on making that drill. Some of her questions were answered, but more arose. So if the Cluster hadn't done this, what force could have? These "things" might be stronger than she can imagine.
After being requested to follow, Peridot weighed her options. There was strength in numbers, and the creatures Pearl encountered might even be here as well. This was probably going to take a lot more out of her than going alone, since it meant working with Pearl, but answers would probably come quicker. She wasn't too fond of the idea of looking for the other clods, but at least they wouldn't attack her again, since they were still on a truce. But she only would come along since Pearl was desperate, not because she wanted to- she had no choice, right? Wither way, the green gem still viewed her as a lesser gem. Yet drastic times called for drastic measures. " Very well, but we're still on truce, may I remind you. "
Getting onto the first order of business, finding the rest of those clods, Peridot let out a short sigh. She was acquainted with Amethyst and Steven, but Peridot was not so fond of the fusion. Garnet was a lot stronger than her, even with her limb enhancers. But reminding herself of the truce once again, Peridot decided to comply for now. So they were looking for a seven foot tall fusion, a small-long haired purple gem, and the Steven. They looked so different from the natives of the town, so it shouldn't be too hard. But for now she just followed Pearl a safe distance behind, glancing around the victorian world outside the alley she woke up in. " The natives of this town might have seen them, if you have not asked already. It's not like they're hard to spot. " WORDS: 383 TAGGED: @pearl template by Margie @ Adoxography v2

One of the worst things about hanging around a gem that was as equally intelligent as her as that sometimes, the two of them were not only matched in smartness, but they excelled one another at some points. She hadn't even thought to go around asking, but, then again, she hadn't really gotten that far. She was a panicked mess whenever she had first arrived on this strange new world, though she still.. Wasn't quite sure as to what had happened and what was going on , no matter how much she tried to come up with feasible solutions.
As far as she was currently concerned, there were none, and that was that. There were so many other important matters that needed tending to, and the servant gem didn't have a clue where she should begin with any of it. Of course, this was much easier than going about it alone.. Or so she thought. Anyway-
"You don't have to remind me, believe me, I'm keeping track." Without the other gems around, she was able to verbally profess her distaste for Peridot, but, one again, she had to remember that they were in the midst of an extremely dire situation that didn't have any room for internal conflict budding from within. She sighed and shook her head, trying her best to erase all of those types of thoughts from her mind.
As she walked, she decided that it would be best to show Peridot just what it was they were dealing with, so she activated the simple hologram that her gem could provide, creating a three-dimensional figure of the little vermin that had attacked and conquered the Earth due to their overwhelming numbers.
"This is.. What attacked us. Do they look familiar to you at all?" She was searching for any answers she could find from any source, but as she was guessing, the little green rodent was just as clueless as she was, and the both of them were too stubborn to admit that completely.
Pearl turned into one of the alleyways, seeing a dumpster in the back and automatically running for it. Amethyst would be quite the sight for a pair of sore blue eyes right about now.

Looking at the creature projected in the hologram, Peridot was still confused. She hadn't seen anything of the sort, but she tried to get an idea of what they were. It didn't have a gemstone- unless the beady eyes counted somehow. It seemed small and weak, but there was strength in numbers. She could see how an infestation of them could be a problem...
"... No, I've never seen anything of the sort. I am near certain those aren't Gems, though. They'd have a Gemstone if they were. Plus the fact that I've been through Homeworld's database numerous times, and nothing like this was in there when it came to Gems. " Peridot paused to think for a moment, still glancing around for any of the other Gems. "Unfortunately, I have little clue to what these creatures are. If these things are responsible for bringing us here, well, I'm sure someone has to know about them. "
Peridot was used to knowing what would happen. The Cluster, the drill, her missions in general, but now she was stranded in a world she didn't know with the threat of these creatures that attacked in mass. Still, maybe someone around here knew about these black creatures? It was a far fetched chance, but a glimmer of hope nonetheless.
Following the servant gem into an alleyway, Peridot was left in the dust as Pearl ran to a nearby dumpster, probably looking for Amethyst. She thought she saw some of the trash bags shuffle around, but dismissed it. " Well? Anything in there?
