At least sand-mister seemed to understand Black's dilemma in all this. He seemed like a kindly Pokemon from the start, even if a little misunderstood.
The healer shook her head to sand-mister’s concern. “It's the next day, silly! He's had time to calm down, trust me. And besides, you have Kay by your side! Just leave it to me and everything will be alright!”
--
Black stared vacantly at Mewtwo for 10 solid seconds, before sliding his gaze down to Kay, then to the entire world which had seemed to be conspiring against his sanity. He closed his eyes and sighed deeply. “Kay,”
But Kay wasn't moved. She stalked over to her human, tugged lightly at his arm and gave him a look close to what a parent would give you when you had to greet a guest. She tugged his arm again to urge him to say something.
With an atlas sigh, the trainer bothered himself into working his jaw as he refocused on the white and purple pokemon. He was disgruntled - there was no question about it - but he wasn’t heartless. Actually, he was so heartful sometimes to the point of being wimpy.
He rubbed the back of his head. “Are you here to apologize? ‘Cause if you are, you should know that I’m not mad at you, I’m just.” Words were hard to be a thing. “What you did back there - that confused the heck out of me, and would have probably given me an existential crisis if I stayed there long enough. It just - wasn’t cool to mess with someone’s head like that, alright?”
Following the scolding, Black's arms knotted over his chest and his nose pointed up at the sky to express his disapproval. On the contrary though, deep inside Black was beginning to feel a little paranoia creeping in. The silence seemed almost judgement. He was still in the presence of a big deal, after all.
“...But, um, other than that I'm cool, I guess. With you. I'll shut up now.”
